Flow Cytometry Shared Resource (FCSR)

About Our Core.

The Flow Cytometry Shared Resource (FCSR) at the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center (SCCC) provides researchers with sophisticated methods for the analysis and preparative sorting of both normal and tumor cells. The facility helps researchers measure apoptosis, gene expression, drug metabolism, immune responses and pathways of cellular activation, both normal and tumor-related.

The shared resource maintains instruments, computer work-stations for data analysis and related equipment to support scientists affiliated with Sylvester’s multidisciplinary research programs, as well as researchers in a wide variety of cancer-related research projects.

The facility also provides training to investigators in flow cytometric applications, mass cytometry and cell sorting technologies.

Technologies.

• CyTOF - Helios for high dimensional data acquisition of cells in suspension.
• CyTOF - Hyperion for high dimensional imaging of fresh frozen or formalin fixed parafin embedded tissues on microscope slides.
• Cytek Aurora, 5 lasers, 3 scatter channels and 64 fluorescence channels, spectral analyzer.
• BD FACS Aria-IIu, 17-color, flow cytometric cell sorter, housed in a Baker BioProtect-II, BSL-2 bio-safety cabinet.
• BD FACS Aria Fusion, 15-color, flow cytometric cell sorter, BSL-2 bio-safety cabinet.
• BD FACS Aria-II, 13 color, flow cytometric cell sorter.
• BD LSR-Fortessa-HTS, 18-color, high-throughput, flow cytometric analyzer.
• BD LSR-II, 15-color, flow cytometric analyzer.
• BD FACS Canto-II, 8-color, flow cytometric analyzer.
• Zeiss LSM 980 with AiryScan2 confocal microscope.
