Onco-Genomics Shared Resource - OGSR

Overview

The Onco-Genomics Shared Resource (OGSR) is a state-of-the-art open-core facility located in the in the Biomedical Research Building on the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine campus. The OGSR provides investigators access to a wide range of technologies and services for the molecular analysis of DNA and RNA in addition to providing technical expertise for project design and trouble-shooting. The OGSR employs four full-time technicians overseen by Faculty-level Directors. Services span RNA/DNA extraction and QC, droplet digital-PCR, PCR-free gene expression assays, single-cell sample prep and gene expression analysis, miRNA and CNV assays, microarrays and rapid run next generation sequencing for RNA-Seq, ChIP-Seq and other NGS workflows. OGSR facilities, instrumentation and bench space, are divided into sample processing (pre-PCR) and analytical laboratories (post-PCR) in two separate open-plan laboratories. All equipment is maintained under rolling service contracts with regular preventative maintenance.

OGSR instrumentation includes:

  • Two Illumina NextSeq 500 sequencers
  • PE/Caliper Zephyr G3 NGS automated library prep system
  • NanoString PrepStation and nCounter analysis systems
  • Raindance Technologies Raindrop & BioRad QX200 droplet digital ddPCR systems
  • Fluidigm C1 single-cell auto-prep station and Biomark HD nanofluidic qPCR system
  • Roche Lightcycler LC480 real-time PCR fed by a PE/Caliper Twister II autoloader and Mécour refrigerated storage system
  • Thermo Scientific Nanodrop, LifeTechnologies Qubit and Agilent Bioanalyzer 2100 systems
